WJFF is hydro-powered Public Radio. Listeners range from the top of NYC to North East New Jersey and Pennsylvania, to the Hudson River towns and throughout the Upper Delaware Valley. Some are NYC residents with a weekend home in the Catskills. This week's show is compiled from CD's I picked up at the North East Folk Alliance (NEFA) Conference I attended last weekend in Split Rock, PA. Time prevents me from even listening to all of the performers, let alone being able to say I've found the best tunes from the 100 plus CD's I received. This is what I've come up with so far. I began with a taped interview with Paul Schatzkin of Songs.Com about his release sampler, "The Best of Independent American Music", 152 artists, over 10 hours of CD quailty music in MP3 compressed format. This was not necessarily to push Paul's product, but to raise the technological possibilities that may very well change how we store and play our music, both at home and over the air. Interview with Paul Schatzkin of Songs.com see http://www.wjffradio.org/FolkPlus/interviews/ In an effort to explain how I could decide what to air from such an overwhelming collection of new cd's I played Peirce Pettis in the background singing "You Move Me". (Now #8 on the country charts with Garth singing to Peirce's surprise and delight) Speaking over the tune I explained about the conference in general. These are some of the tunes that moved me so far. 1. From Seattle: Katya Chorover - The Clearing Winter - jgandkc@msn.com "Winter throws her net out, and she wraps me up .." 2.
