FREEBO & PHOTOGLO - Friday 7 - 7:15
Freebo & Photoglo perform a flawless magic act which draws from their individual CDs, using the solo
material to create this transforming musical duo. So skilled and finely attuned are these two artists, you
would think they wrote the songs to perform together. They deftly supply the right instrumentation and
harmony, blending in a perfect fit to the other. Added to the mix are their quick-witted humor, entertaining
stories, and interaction. They have collectively worked with many well-known performers in the music field
including Bonnie Raitt, Dan Fogelberg, John Mayall and many others.

ROCKY GAINES - Friday 7:20 - 7:35
Rocky Gaines is a singer who cares about the sort of world we live in and the sort of music she brings to
people. It is music which sneaks up and captures your imagination, emotions and heart. Coming from Texas,
her music draws on country, folk and blues. It’s music that’s been forged by experience, time and travel - she
has lived everywhere from Hawaii to Cape Cod to Toronto. In Texas there’s hardly a city, town or major
festival she hasn’t played. She has played in many places in North America and in Germany.

LITTLE TOBY WALKER - Friday 7:40 - 7:55
Little Toby Walker is a triple-threat musician. He’s an accomplished fingerstyle guitarist, adept at blues,
ragtime and bottleneck styles. Toby is also a skilled singer/songwriter drawing inspiration from traditional
and contemporary blues, folk, ragtime, and country. He accompanies himself on acoustic or 1930 National
Steel guitar. His mastery of his craft was recognized in Memphis in 2002 when he won the International
Blues Challenge Award. He has released 5 CDs, the most recent this year. He now teaches at Woody Mann’s
prestigious Acoustic Sessions Guitar School in NYC and Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch in Ohio.

JOHNSMITH - 8:00 - 8:15
Over two decades, Johnsmith has performed his own brand of spirituality in songs from the heart and soul,
described as uplifting,. He has half a dozen acclaimed CDs to his credit, his latest being “Break Me Open”.
After a few inspiring solo tours to Ireland, John now leads tours to the Emerald Isle a few times a year,
bringing small groups of fans and friends touring by day, and sharing music with the locals in pubs by night.
He’s a past winner of the New Folk competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival. He was recently featured on
“New Dimensions” on NPR.

REVEILLONS! - 8:35 - 8:50
Reveillons! is the present imperative form of the verb “to awaken” - Wake up! It is a clear and precise
embodiment of the message the band seeks to convey. Since 1996, Reveillons! has presented Quebec’s
traditional music with a new approach for listening, dancing, singing and playing. The band offers “La joie
de vivre of Quebéc” in reels, jigs, French songs, step dancing, and called dances. It consists of Richard Forest
on fiddle; Jean-Francois Berthiaume on bodran, feet, vocals & percussion; David Berthiaume on vocals,
Jew’s harp & concertina; and Marc Maziade on guitar, tenor banjo and vocals.

COSY SHERIDAN - Friday 8:55 - 9:10
Cosy Sheridan is a national award-winning singer songwriter whose wryly insightful songs have been
showcased everywhere from Carnegie Hall to ‘The Dr. Demento Show’. She first appeared on the national
folk scene in 1992 when she won the songwriting contests at the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Telluride
Bluegrass Festival and released her critically acclaimed CD “Quietly Led” on Waterbug Records. In 2003,
she created a one-woman show - “The Pomegranate Seed” - a bold unflinching look at issues affecting
women’s lives which she has performed all over the country. Cosy has also gained a national reputation as a
songwriting teacher.

KATE McDONNELL - Friday 9:15 - 9:30
Kate McDonnell, award-winning singer-songwriter who plays upside-down-and-backwards guitar, has just
been nominated for Best Traditional Folk Album for 2006 – “Where the Mangoes Are”. Fearless and funny
on stage, she continues to impress audiences in Europe and the U.S. with her heart-stopping voice and
jaw-dropping guitar work. With 4 CDs under her belt, and a 5th in the works, Kate is no stranger to the folk
world. Recently, her song “Lines” from the CD, “NEXT”, was used as the theme song for a nationally
released documentary called “Crossing Arizona”. Tom Paxton stated her music has grace, intelligence,
warmth and more.

GUY MENDILOW - Saturday 7:00 - 7:15
Guy Mendilow’s music offers a taste of the beauty of the different cultures he has called home - from Israel
and South Africa to Brazil, Mexico and the US - and of the common human ground between them. As an
educator, Guy try to build cross-cultural respect and appreciation.. In “Mendilusia,” modern Israeli and
ancient Judeo-Spanish melodies meld with Brazilian bossa, South African harmonies and Mendilow’s
award-winning overtone singing. Mendilow’s quartet, Mendilusian Wine, performs in six languages and on
some sixteen instruments including a musical bow-and-arrow and electric mbira alongside lush vocal
harmonies and jaw harps.

TERENCE MARTIN - Saturday 7:20 - 7:35
Terence Martin, born in London and raised in Los Angeles, is a singer/songwriter/poet. He moved east in
1997 to become part of the flourishing NY acoustic music scene. His musical background includes
performing as a double bassist in the Burbank Symphony and in several touring rock bands. Terence’s songs
flow with hauntingly poetic images and elements of folk, blues and country. His debut CD, Division Street,
and the two follow-up CDs have all received excellent reviews and national radio airplay. Terence was a
featured performer in the Emerging Artist Showcase at the 2003 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.

DANNY SCHMIDT - Saturday 7:40 - 7:55
Danny Schmidt was called “perhaps the best new songwriter I’ve heard in the last 15 years” in a Sing Out!
review by Rich Warren. His musical style draws from deeply rooted Appalachian mountain gospel to haunted
English balladry, from syncopated Piedmont country blues to vagabond 60’s protest folk-stumpery, all
blended into a singular style all his own. He performs solo – just his voice and his guitar. His recordings live
up to a strict writer’s aesthetic: let the songs themselves stand out front and well lit. There are sparse
backdrops of harmony vocals, strings and accordion.

THE ROWAN BROTHERS - Saturday 8:00 - 8:15
The Rowan Brothers (Chris & Loren) hooked up with David Grisman in the early 70’s. They all moved to
“where it was happening”, San Francisco, and still reside there today. At one point, they were playing with
older brother Peter as The Rowans, but Peter returned to his bluegrass roots. The Rowan Brothers came full
circle in 2004 with the release of “Now and Then” on BOS Music. This double CD contains 34
genre-jumping tracks, feathering 17 new songs and 17 previously unreleased vintage cuts. Their sound is a
modern day Everly Brothers with a splash of bluegrass.

THE McDADES - Saturday 8:35 - 8:50
The McDades’ Celtic rooted music fuses the spontaneity of jazz improvisation and infectious global rhythms.
Their cutting edge sound is the perfect complement to their fiery performances. Siblings Shannon, Jeremiah
and Solon are joined by Andy Hillhouse, a multi-faceted guitarist, and Francois Taillefer, a hand-drumming
nomad. With vocal harmonies that can only come from a family, the McDades’ sound is immersed in the
spirit of energetic instrumentals and sensitive vocals performed in English and French In the end, this
compelling and dynamic group finds the groove somewhere between a kitchen party and a folk festival.

MARIA DUNN - Saturday 8:55 - 9:10
Maria Dunn is an arrestingly powerful Canadian storyteller through song - of the James Keelaghan ilk - who
combines North American folk and country music with the influences of her Celtic heritage. Born in
Scotland and raised in Ontario and Alberta, she writes songs inspired by historical and contemporary
characters, capturing their struggles and triumphs in her lyrics. Maria received a 2003 Juno nomination
(Roots/Traditional Solo) for her second independent recording, “For a Song”. Her latest project, “We Were
Good People” (2004), explores the stories of working people in Western Canada - tales of resilience and
hope.

JONATHAN EDWARDS - Saturday 9:15 - 9:30
Jonathan Edwards has been a fixture on the music scene for 29 years. He has recorded 13 albums and penned
such notable hits as “Shanty” and “Sunshine” which earned him a gold record in 1971. His 1987 children’s
album, “Little Hands”, selected by the National Library Association as a “Notable Children’s Recording”,
has sold over 20,000 copies and is still going strong. He is known as a “musician’s musician”. His rich,
warm tenor has a distinctively unique and natural quality. He has produced albums for other artists and has
even acted in theater, highlighted by an ’80 tour of “Pumpboys and Dinettes”.
